Trans-Texas Hell Week I
15-22 June 2008Texas is indeed like a whole other country. The advertising slogan was right. Where else could you ride for 800 miles in a straight line, and still be in the same state? Saddle up, and join us for this epic crossing of the Republic of Texas!
If you've ever looked at one of those coffee table books showcasing Texas, you already know there's a lot to see here. And while we can't quite possibly see it all on this trip, we're going to cover a lot of ground. This is a fully-supported tour of Texas, meaning we do everything except ride the bike and pay for your evening meal. In the process, you'll cross the biggest state in the lower 48, a state whose economy is so huge it routinely would rank among the biggest of the world if it were a separate nation.
While TV has broadcast the myth that Texas culture is pretty much like that on the 80s Dallas show, we will see that Texas is a tapestry rich in many subcultures. But one things pervades the entire state, and crossed all social groups. That is Texas Pride. It is something that must be experienced to begin to understand.
Come ride with us on this epic tour, and see why we're proud of our state.
What's the Cost?
The fee is $1449 for single occupancy, and $1179 for double occupancy (see the Register page for complete details). There is a $100 late fee after 20 May.What Do I Get For the Money?
You will get 8 nights lodging, breakfast, lunch, road snacks, sag support, commemorative Trans-Texas Hell Week wearables, and a great time crossing Texas!
The complete itinerary with motel info and phone numbers will be sent in June to all registered riders. This tour will roll with 8 or more riders.
Need ideas for logistics? Some folks are renting a vehicle in Dallas and driving to El Paso, dropping off the car there, doing the ride, then returning to Dallas from Shreveport in another rental vehicle. Others have suggested using collapsible hard-shell cases that can also double as luggage. There are numerous possibilities. Please call or email with your questions.
