Our brevet routes are varied and will pit you against hills in some instances, and wind-blown flat prairies in others. Specifically, our route descriptions are as follows:
- Monday 12 March 200K--We'll use the much-liked Guadelupe River Vista route from Hell Weeks past. This route leaves Frdedericksburg and heads south to Kerrville, and then follows the river to Ingram. From there it's back uphill to Harper and east to Fred.
- Friday 16 March 300K--This route uses a somewhat shortened version of the 200 mile Utopia Double Century held in 2005 and 2003. The only difference is that some miles are cut off at the end. The turn-around will once again be in Utopia.
- Saturday 24 March 200K--in Canyon TX. It's flat, flat, flat...and all of the sudden the prairie opens up into a 9-mile-wide chasm known as Palo Duro Canyon. Nearly 900 feet deep, the bare red rock of the canyon walls stand in stark contrast to the prairie grasses on top. There's a white-knuckle descent, several miles of rolling, and then one elevator shaft. Then it's flat back to Amarillo, followed by one last dip into a much shallower portion of the canyon near the finish.
- Saturday 08 September 200K--in Canyon TX--We'll head west and into mesa country to Tucumcari NM, where we will spend the night, eat, and have fun.
- Sunday 09 September 200K--in Tucumcari NM--We'll get on the bikes early after breakfast for the trip back to Canyon. Post-ride picnic at our place.
Online registration now available for March and September events. Brevets held at Texas Hell Week require onsite registration.
